Deacon Cindy has been a part of the St. Michael’s family since her parents joined the church in 1966.  In 1996 she was ordained to the permanent deaconate and has served the parish since her ordination.  Cindy has completed four units of Clinical Pastoral Education and works as a hospital chaplain at Lakeland Community Hospital in Niles, Michigan.  She also works as on-call chaplain for St. Joseph Regional Medical Centers in South Bend and Mishawaka. Cindy and her husband Randy have been married for 29 years and have two children, Emily 18 and Courtney 22 who is the mother of Cindy and Randy’s grandson Aidan who is 6 months old.

Brian first started attending St. Michael’s when he came to Notre Dame for graduate school in the fall of 2004. Soon after, Brian became involved as a volunteer with EYC and played piano with the Praise Band. Brian graduated from Wheaton College in 2004 with degrees in sociology and anthropology. During high school and college, Brian was heavily involved in his church, playing and leading the youth group band and playing frequently in Sunday morning services. Brian and Karen were married in the summer of 2006 and now reside in Mishawaka. Brian enjoys reading (great Russian novels and sociology), playing the piano, playing basketball, and cheering on the Chicago Cubs and Bears.

Fr. Richard Kallenberg, Interim Rector

The church is currently searching for a new rector after Fr. Randy Melton’s last Sunday at St. Michael’s was January 6, 2008. The Rev. Canon Richard Kallenberg began his ministry as our Interim Rector at the end of March.  Fr. K+ recently retired as Rector of The Church of St. John the Evangelist in Elkhart, having served as Rector for over twenty years.  He has served parishes in Wisconsin and Florida.  He has chaired the Finance Committee of the Diocese of Northern Indiana for many years, and he currently sits on the Diocesan Standing Committee. He holds degrees from Hanover College and Nashotah House Seminary. He and his wife, Kathy, are the parents of four adult children and grandparents of three boys.  He enjoys reading, downhill skiing, biking and a variety of other outdoor activities.
